Breakfast with the Queensland Trade Commissioner to the United States, Canada and Mexico

David Camerlengo is the Trade & Investment Commissioner – North America, responsible for Queensland’s trade & investment engagement across USA, Canada and Mexico.

David’s agenda to advance trade and investment between Queensland and North America includes promoting Queensland capabilities in the market, developing pathways for Queensland companies and attracting productive foreign direct investment; all to grow, strengthen and diversify the Queensland economy.

David has a passion for innovation, helping companies from Queensland to scale in North America across key industries of mining, agriculture, digital tech, life sciences, food & beverage. In addition, David supports the Queensland Government “Advance Queensland” agenda to encourage entrepreneurship and support commercialization from Queensland.  He represents Queensland on the board of the Open Worldwide Innovation Network (OWIN), a network supporting global commercialization.

Prior to joining TIQ, David had 10 years of commercial experience in the US, more recently as the US President of global manufacturer, EGR, helping to grow the company to over 110 employees in the USA.  His commercial experience extends across advanced manufacturing, automotive, and construction and includes servicing many channels from direct to OEM, wholesale, trade, retail and e-commerce.

David holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Queensland University of Technology (QUT)

and a Master of Science in Technology Commercialization (MSTC) from the University of Texas- Austin, both graduating with honours.  He is also recipient of the prestigious George Kozmetsky Award for Academic Excellence from the University of Texas- Austin.
